The story of the 3inkey Foundation (3StewsLoveIsKey) begins with three brothers—Larry, Stephen, and Lynard Stewart—growing up in the inner city of Philadelphia.
Like many young people in their community, the Stewart brothers faced challenges that came with growing up in an environment where opportunities were limited and the streets often pulled young people in the wrong direction. But one thing helped guide them in a different direction—basketball.
The game became more than just a sport. It became a place of discipline, structure, and hope. Through basketball, the brothers found mentors, built lifelong friendships, and gained opportunities that would help shape their futures.
Their journeys eventually led them all to play at the collegiate and professional level. Larry and Stephen continued their basketball careers at Coppin State University in Baltimore, where they built a lasting legacy within the program. Lynard continued his journey at Temple University, playing under legendary Hall of Fame coach John Chaney.
While basketball opened doors for the Stewart brothers, the lessons they learned along the way were even more valuable. They learned about perseverance, accountability, teamwork, and leadership—principles that would stay with them long after their playing days ended.
As the years passed, the brothers began reflecting on their journey and the many young people growing up in communities just like the one they came from. They realized that the guidance, mentorship, and opportunities they received through basketball were not always available to every young person.
That realization led to the creation of the 3inkey/ 3stewsloveiskey Foundation.
The name represents the bond between the three Stewart brothers and their belief that love, mentorship, and community support are the key to unlocking the potential within every young person.
Today, the foundation continues the mission of giving back by using sports, mentorship, and youth programming to help guide young people toward positive paths. Through leadership development, character building, and community engagement, the Stewart brothers work to provide the same encouragement and opportunities that helped shape their own.
